History

I have over 40 years of performing under my belt; I started playing guitar at 15 and actually played at the world famous Carnegie Hall on my 21st birthday as part of an ABC records and radio “Big Break” contest. I’ve also played with, or opened for, many name players including rock’s  legends- The Beach Boys, Spirit, Badfinger, Marshall Tucker, Firefall, Rick Derringer, Poison, Mike Pinera, lyric master Harry Chapin, blues legends & greats- Freddie King, Buddy Guy, James Cotton, Johnny Winter, Tinsley Ellis, Curtis Salgado, Jimmy Thackery, Coco Montoya, Kim Simmonds, James Peterson,  and Shawn Holt.

Currently, my band, “The Usual Suspects” is on hiatus until a venue that accepts the varied repertoire opens locally.

I currently perform with “Stoney & the Houserockers” “The Cindi Griffin Band”

For 8 years, I occupied the blues teacher chair for the Southeast National Guitar Summer Workshop, and was one of three people chosen nationally to work on the blues curriculum for “Workshop Live”. I’ve tried to be a steady source of inspiration for over thirty years to those longing to learn to play guitar, passing down my passion to the young and not so young.  Want to play ukuleleMandolin?  I can teach you!  I teach all styles of music too, from blues to bluegrass, classic and modern rock, modern pop, classical, and folk.

  1. I heard you play last night — no, let me rephrase that — I EXPERIENCED you playing last night and I was mesmerized. Everyone around me was talking about what a fantastic guitarist you are, but not me, I didn’t say a word in case I missed one note of your music. Wow. Thank you so much for the experience!
